I learned most of my basic Photoshop techniques from the internet and then further developed them myself over the years. I started creating album artworks for my own band back in highschool. We were just a bunch of teenagers and we didn’t have much money so I decided to learn how to make album covers to save us some money. Eventually, it became a great passion and here I am.

My technique is mixed media. A combination of photo manipulation and digital painting.  Although I’m leaning more towards photo manipulation since I’m better at it. Most of the time, I still use the good old Adobe…

I discovered a passion for visual arts and illustration when I was a child. When I was 17 years old, I start to work as a graphic artist in a local newspaper in Las Flores, my hometown. In the late 80’s I moved from my little town to Buenos Aires and worked as a graphic designer for a print house for five years. In the 90s, I turned to digital and worked as graphic designer and illustrator for several projects in the music industry for companies like MCA, Universal, RoadRunner, Polygram, BMG, Fonovisa, Word Entertainment and Canzion. In 2002, I began to produce my own personal artwork. Now…

I was born in August 14th, 1985, in San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, a small town in the center of Chile. I was raised by my mother alone and lived my childhood with her and 2 brothers in an old house in the rural village of Larmahue, very isolated from civilization. I attended a catholic male school until 5th grade to later be educated at home. I always spent a lot of time on drawing and writing. My father is a more or less known artist but I never had any relation with him. I never attended any special art classes or education. I started working on an early age due to poor financial situation…

I've been drawing ever since I can remember. Recreating various movie monsters and comic/ cartoon characters I idolized. When I finally started making music and performing in bands, the necessity for visuals became imminent. Album art, show posters and merch design naturally became a way to further the creative process. Making the transition to the digital realm (Photoshop/ Illustrator, etc.) on my own. Endless Youtube tutorials and assistance from more adept peers. As time went on, I became fortunate enough to collaborate with other bands/ venues/ promoters on their own endeavors.

I use…

I play in the band Sutekh Hexen (2008-present) that explores sonic territories influenced by primitive black metal, power electronics, harsh noise and ambient music... pure cacophony. I cut my teeth doing album layouts for friends bands during the 00's while studying design seriously and this was ultimately where I learned the most about things like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (and even Quark!!!).

, bands, labels and other businesses around the world through my ongoing site Viraloptic.com. I worked at a Tower Records, FedEx Kinkos and a couple of production houses in SF…

I also really liked dinosaurs. I studied art at school and eventually did a degree in Animation, winning some fairly-respectable awards with my graduation film. I have always liked music and have played in many different bands since my teens. Obviously those bands needed art and design so accordingly I ended up fulfilling that need, and from there friend's bands and other people on the same scene start asking you to help out with their projects. I just gradually drifted into making lots of posters and covers in a very organic way- I very much enjoy the myriad of visual aesthetics we see on…

first I think I go with a very strong fantasy and a view for this kind of stuff. I’m a self-taught, never studied, never drawed in my early years. Always searching for a tool that gives me the ability to free my creativity.

So finally I came up with my first composing in 2002, just hurting the pixels over 16 hours a day. I just wanted to do something besides my job as a singer. Only music was never enough for me so I decided to create our visual output also. I fed my own band and after it, some other bands asked for a cover art and stuff.

99% of the time I work with photos and compose,…

I went so far as studying Humanistics at McGill university but I never studied art or illustration academically, though I did end up going into illustration in my early 20’s after teaching myself as much as I could regarding airbrushing or working with acrylics and various other mediums (there was way less use of computer generated art back then, since it was still just the early 90’s). I produced my first heavy metal band album cover a long after I had even stopped doing illustration for the most part, because Coheed and Cambria had noticed my art being exhibited in LA, and decided I was…
