‘Square One’ by Joe Carter-Hawkins
With members of Alestorm, Heaven Shall Burn and When Our Times Come – All But One has a brand new message to deliver. Their powerhouse debut album tastefully fuses the worlds of Pop and Metal music, combining accomplished melody with masterful guitar and fearsome breakdowns. All But One was born as a passion project of Alestorm guitarist Máté Bodor. After catching the attention of an elite group of like-minded musicians, what began as a side project evolved into what will undoubtedly become a formidable force in the rock music industry. All But One are a product of professionalism, uncompromising passion and an unstoppable hunger to succeed.
All But One combines all of our musical tastes, from our metal roots to our love for modern pop music. We’ve all brought our own individual styles to the mix and we’re very happy with where that’s lead us to. ABO represents many years of experience and hard work. We have been through lots of phases with this record, excitement, stress, uncertainty but overall, we’ve had so much fun writing and producing it. We’re really happy with how it’s turned out.
It began with our guitarist Máté steadily writing the music over a few years. When he was happy with what he had, he asked the rest of us to join the band. Once I had joined, I began writing the lyrics and melodies to add to the already composed music. It was an absolute pleasure to write over Máté’s compositions. They are all very well thought out.
Our very good friend Elliot Vernon (keyboard player of Alestorm) came up with the cover design. We didn’t want to go for anything complicated, we just wanted our logo to be very prominent and recognizable. As we are a brand new band, it’s important for people to pick up on who we are quick.
As we have all been in previous bands and projects, our musical influences really vary and I think that’s what makes the ABO sound fairly unique. We take influence from pop, classic rock, metalcore, electronic, power metal, tech-metal and many others. Each member has their own preference and that works for us during the writing process.
I do music because it’s the only thing that makes me feel truly complete. I live and breathe music. Writing and being creative is how I’m honest with myself and others. It can be very stressful at times but performing something I’ve created in front of people that care is the best feeling in the world.
