Wars: 'We Are Islands, After All' out On Spinefarm Records

Spinefarm Records, the hard rockin’ heart of the Universal Music Group, is excited to announce the worldwide signing of UK five-piece, wars.

This young group, from the northern town of Rugby, released independent EP ‘And So The Sea Will Claim Us All’ back in 2015; a potent exercise in furious metallic hardcore featuring the video track ‘Weathered Eyes’, this initial outing saw the musicians grabbing the attention of fans and media alike (including the Radio One Rock Show), supported by live shows with artists such as Bury Tomorrow, Hacktivist, Creeper and, more recently, SHVPES.

For their debut album, the band – Rob Vicars, vocals; Sam Barnard, guitar & vocals; Lee Tysall, drums; Matt Burns, guitar; Rich Bennett, bass – opted to engage the skills of noted UK producer / musician Matt O’ Grady (You Me At Six, Deaf Havana, Don Broco, etc.), with Alan Douches, chief engineer at West West Side Music on the US East Coast, handling the mastering.

The result is 'We Are Islands, After All’, a 10-strong body of work housed in the striking artwork of Romanian graphic artist Costin Chioreanu from Twilight13media, who has previously provided visuals for acts such as At The Gates, Darkthrone and Mayhem; the album successfully mixes alt rock and melodic hardcore, matching power and passion to rising choruses, with vocalist Colin Doran, of Hundred Reasons repute, guesting on lead single 'That By Discord Things Increase’, this will be wars first release since joining forces with Spinefarm, with the album following on January 27th 2017 now available to pre-order from the wars online store here.

“Signing to Spinefarm is a huge step for us,” reflects Sam Barnard. “Being on the same label as some of our idols is truly insane! We are super excited about what the future holds, working with a passionate team of music fans that really believe in us and our music.”

“We’re also delighted to have 'That By Discord Things Increase' leading the charge,” continues Rob Vicars, “as it’s a really significant starting point for everything we've been working on this last year. It was an honour to have Colin Doran, a collective hero of ours, involved, and generally the song ties together a lot of the concepts and themes that snake through the album. It's a defining track for us, and we're impossibly excited to finally have people hear it”.

2017 will be a busy year for wars, with more singles and videos being released and a full touring schedule being pursued.

HAVOK: Announce fourth studio album 'Conformicide'

Thrash-metal stalwarts HAVOK are thrilled to announce the details of their upcoming new studio album, titled “Conformicide”. The Denver/USA based group will unleash their fourth full-length record on March 10th, 2017 via Century Media Records, along with touring in both North America and Europe next year to support the release.

“Conformicide” is the follow up to the band's 2013 effort, "Unnatural Selection". Discussing what fans can expect from the new record, David Sanchez (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) comments: “‘Conformicide’ is our most dynamic, heavy, thoughtful, musical, and sonically-crushing album so far. All four members feel that this is the best HAVOK album to date. There are a lot of “truth bombs” being dropped on this record and the music absolutely rips!”

Building on Sanchez's comments, Reece Scruggs (lead guitar) adds: “This album swings for the fences in every way. Sonically stunning, technically proficient and lyrically pissed, we've never been represented at our best until this moment in time. We cannot wait for the world to react to Conformicide."

In the shop for almost three years, HAVOK’s “Conformicide” is undoubtedly their “Master of Puppets” or “Rust in Peace” moment. True, the Denver-based rippers have bled out guts, brains, and cash on previous albums “Unnatural Selection” (2013), “Time is Up” (2011), and “Burn” (2009), but none of them compare to the ear-destroying, mind-flaying “Conformicide”.

““Conformicide” is faster and way angrier than “Unnatural Selection”,” says vocalist/guitarist/founding member David Sanchez. “On this album, the music is very layered and dynamic and the lyrics say a lot about the current state of the world.'"

As previously mentioned, HAVOK will return to the road in 2017 with extensive touring schedules in both North American and Europe. Expressing the band's level of enthusiasm to bring their fans an even heavier and more energized live show than ever before, Sanchez states, "We can’t wait to perform some new music live and present a show that people won’t forget!  Expect to see HAVOK like you’ve never seen before. We’re ready to destroy!"

FORGJORD set release date for new WEREWOLF album

Today, Werewolf Records, freshly in conspiracy with Hells Headbangers, sets March 10th as the international release date for Förgjord's highly anticipated third album, Uhripuu. Hailing from the forever-thriving Finnish black metal underground, Förgjord is one of that scene's stranger and more unique entities. Existing since the mid '90s, the trio have largely shied away from the spotlight - even when that spotlight is blacklit and dim - and patiently parcel out their releases, with a sparse-yet-solid discography to date. Sielunvihollinen - their second album, released to critical acclaim in 2012 - furthered the idiosyncratic Förgjord aesthetic, but now with Uhripuu, they've triumphed yet again with a scabrous 'n' unorthodox journey into black metal's most rotten depths. But for however malodorous their melodicism is, it is precisely that - meldodicism - which makes Förgjord so bewitching, the way oddly hummable passages push past the ripped-raw soundfield and create a wild, entrancing disconnect. It is this aspect which fondly reminds of France's Black Legions, the eternal struggle between trance and trash, but naturally, a distinctly Finnish air of melancholy permeates the mildewed black metal at hand. Lay before the sacrifice tree of Uhripuu and let Förgjord sever you from the bonds of earthly reality! The first two severances, "Kiviseen Syleilynn" and the Uhripuu's title track, can be heard exclusively HERE at Werewolf's Bandcamp, where the album can also be preordered.

Werewolf Records is a Luciferian metal temple founded in 1998. The wolfish cry from the Carelian battleground, Werewolf Records exclusively releases black metal and congruent noize. In this age when black metal’s worth is questionable, idealism and rigor are the exception when they should be the highest law. We uphold the law of the Wolf – the destruction of the weak and the false so that the original vitality of the dark magic art can continue to grow and create the foundations for an empire. Black metal is Will and Power. We deal with material that inspires us on our journey towards our own kingdom - a kingdom that is not yours, but bears a resemblance to the one there could be for you. Now in conspiracy with Hells Headbangers, the temple of Werewolf Records shall wage its war farther and wider than ever, with no spiritual surrender. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

FIREWIND: Announce new studio album 'Immortals'

Greek melodic Power metal masters FIREWIND, the group led by guitar-wizard and Ozzy Osbourne band member Gus G., are proud to announce the release of their upcoming 8th studio album, 'Immortals', which will be released on January 20th, 2017 via the band’s longtime label partner Century Media Records in Europe.

Gus G. checked in to comment about 'Immortals' and its artwork (which can be seen above!) as follows: “Today we're very happy to reveal the cover artwork for our 8th studio album. It's titled "Immortals" and it's the first concept album FIREWIND has ever made. Since we're from Greece, we thought it would be a cool idea to make a concept of Greek history and heritage. So, on this album we focused on the legendary battles of Thermopylae and Salamis during the 2nd Persian invasion of Greece in 480 BC. The artwork was once again created by our longtime collaborator, Gustavo Sazes and we feel it reflects the vibe we tried to capture on this album - Epic, Powerful, Glorious, Everlasting.”

MESHUGGAH: TRAILERS FOR 'THE VIOLENT SLEEP OF REASON'

Swedish extreme tech-metal pioneers MESHUGGAH have a month until the release of their upcoming eighth album, The Violent Sleep Of Reason.

Tomas Haake comments, "We are just trying to write something that's sounds new to us, fresh to our ears, something we ourselves haven't heard before. That has been the main drive for each album with MESHUGGAH. We are trying to come up with new way to sound a little bit different even though we're still within framework of what we have to be. We are this metal band, we are not going to all of a sudden do clean vocals and play super straight cheesy rock. We have this framework that we want to be in, we probably and hopefully always will be in. So with that said, that's the limitation of what we've been doing so we are just trying to create something new but still within this framework."

Tomas Haake comments about the album, "Basically, the whole idea of why we chose the title is it kinda connects with the lyrical content of the album. Which is to a fair degree about current events and what you see is going on as far as terrorism today, extremist views on ideals, and religious dogma and the violent implications that you get from being asleep so to speak and not acting/reacting to what is going on in the proper way"

The album was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark. For the cover, the band once again enlisted Keerych Luminokaya who created the artwork for Koloss and The Ophidian Trek as well as the new images for each of the 7 albums and 3 EP's featured in the 25 Years of Musical Deviance box set.
