LOCK UP: Now Track Streaming 'Demonization'

This March, Listenable Records will unleash the long-awaited new full-length from LOCK UP entitled Demonization. The band's latest incarnation features Kevin Sharp (Brutal Truth, Venomous Concept, Primate, etc.) on vocals alongside bassist Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria, Meathook Seed, etc.), drummer Nick Barker (Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, etc.), and guitarist Anton Reisenegger (Pentagram - Chile, Criminal, etc.).

Boasting a crushing fourteen tracks, Demonization will see release on CD, digital, and limited edition vinyl formats in Europe on March 10th followed by a North American release to be announced shortly. In advance of its official unveiling, Decibel Magazine offers up "Desolation Architect" for public consumption.

Wonders Embury in considering the track's theme, "From conception to dissolution, what do we leave behind? Or what can we? If our lives could be compared to a canvas of artwork, how defined and inspirational will it be to our next of kin? Was it fulfilled and true? Can they learn from the mistakes we all make?"

After amicably parting ways with long standing vocalist and metal brother Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates), LOCK UP was honored to have Kevin Sharp step up to the proverbial plate to infuse the band with his unique take on their patented pandemonic death grind hybrid. As a longstanding friend of the band, Sharp adds flavors to the already fermenting cocktail of disharmony, a pot that is stirred ferociously with Reisenegger's twisted riffs, Barker's maniacal drum battery, and Embury's subterranean demonic bass rumbles.

Demonization has been long in the making for a variety of reasons. Logistically, the band is based in different corners of the globe. Life invades at any given moment disrupting the thought process as it does for anyone. At the same time, the realities/brutalities of life have also inspired the band's creative process in many ways.

Lyrically, this record deals with the rise and the fall and the rise again of the human consciousness: The struggle to resist the powers that be, the addiction of escape, the turmoil of reality, and how to survive the carnage and come out stronger....the reborn phoenix!

Musically, Reisenegger's riffs scream out in every mutated direction - fast, heavy and darkly colorful manifesting a true homage to the underground from which the band members all originate while simultaneously setting new standards in extremity. Barker's drumming surpasses lightning speeds of precision. The chaos is joyfully indefinable as he charges through the compositions like a bull to the red flag of hate. Embury's bass tones once again invoke rapid, low-end bestial movements to carry the lost souls across The River Styx! And Sharp, what needs to be said? Nearly thirty years of guttural exorcisms that continue to inspire the world underdogs. It just doesn't get any better that this.

Benighted: Premiere second track of new album

Madness reigns! BENIGHTED deliver the radical soundtrack to these savage times. With their new full-length 'Necrobreed', the French sidestep the steadily growing complexity of their previous albums ‘Asylum Cave’ (2011) and 'Carnivore Sublime' (2014) by recalibrating their sound along their roots.

'Necrobreed' is the result of modern violence combined with an undercurrent of old school feeling. BENIGHTED keep their grinding influences but classic death metal clearly shows through the fabric. Those insane pig squeals are backed-up by massive growling. Crushing riffing and nuclear drumming meet subtle melodies and hidden hooks are fuelling the fury.

BENIGHTED were spawned by members from French Death and Black metal bands DISHUMANIZED, DARKNESS FIRE, and OSGILIATH, who joined forces in 1998 for a more brutal, heavy and modern way of expression. When their first self-produced and self-titled full-length hit the streets in 2000, it immediately had a strong impact. This turned a side-project into a main act. A fast-growing fan base was built by a string of acclaimed albums: 'Psychose' (2002), 'Insane Cephalic Production' (2004), 'Identisick' (2006), and 'Icon' (2007) were all enthusiastically received.

On the live front, BENIGHTED quickly started to capture audiences with sweat driver performances that bulldozer any resistance mercilessly aside. This allowed the French to climb up the ladder fast and soon came invitations to all major European festivals including Neurotic Death Fest, Hellfest, Wacken, Brutal Assault, Summer Breeze, and Inferno Festival among many more.

BENIGHTED recorded 'Necrobreed' once again in Germany's Kohlekeller Studio in continuation of a very successful relationship. The other constant with these brutal death addicts is an album concept that comes based on a theme revolving around the abysmal potential of the human psyche. This time vocalist (and caretaker in a mental asylum) Julien Truchan penned lyrics dealing with a man, who is stitching dead animals to his abdomen. On feeling the warmth of his infected flesh, the schizophrenic "gives birth" to the carcass and places it in his house as the result of a severe childhood trauma involving a dead cat.

'Necrobreed' gives an extreme musical voice to the madness lurking within. Let your mind be shaken by BENIGHTED. In case of side effects, please see a doctor.

GOATBLOOD: Stream new DUNKLEHEIT album

Goatblood streams the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, Veneration of Armageddon. Blasphemously set for international release on Christmas Eve via Dunkelheit Produktionen. For the past five years, this chains- and bullet-bedecked power-duo have been polluting the metal underground with their belligerent brand of bestial black/death. A handful of demos as well as a split were vomited forth before Goatblood's momentous debut album, Adoration of Blasphemy and War, in 2015. Ever aptly titled, Adoration of Blasphemy and War soundly put the German band on the international map, and proved that new, gnarly twists can be made to the rigorous bestial metal template.

Alas, with a few more ensuing splits, time has come for the second Goatblood album, equally aptly titled Veneration of Armageddon. If Adoration of Blasphemy and War pushed the envelope and punished the (un)willing listener, then Veneration of Armageddon gleefully takes that garish assault one step further. Across 18 tracks in a swift 'n' salacious 37 minutes, Goatblood explode forth with a pulsing, pestilent savagery from which there is no reprieve. It's dank and disgusting, dungeon-toned and treacherous, whipping the listener into a hellish, hallucinogenic trance. And yet, for however unrelenting all these songs are, Veneration of Armageddon retains a rare, ever-elusive catchiness, Goatblood here nodding as much to nascent grindcore like early Blood, Extreme Noise Terror, and Doom as they do Blasphemy, Beherit, and Archgoat. In other words, it's simply everything that ingratiated Adoration of Blasphemy and War to the dieharder faithful, but taken to more extremes - and extremely memorable, in the process. Desecrate the birth of a bastard hobo with Veneration of Armageddon!

Hark: Stream second new song

HARK are premiering the second song taken from their anticipated forthcoming album 'Machinations'. The sophomore full-length of these Welsh heavy rockers will be out in stores on February 24th.

Mastermind Jimbob Isaac states: "Our second premiere track 'Disintegrate' is a multi-layered response to odorous people and insidious systems, who aim to destroy you in everyday life. This was the first song that Joe (Harvatt) put his lead guitar work to, during the writing of 'Machinations' and he melted my mind with his skills. This is some of my favourite lead guitar of all time, seriously."

With their second full-length 'Machinations', HARK deliver a perfectly crafted vision of sludge-infused hard rock, while further expanding on their simultaneously progressive and muscular sonic palette.

'Machinations' is an intelligent, forward-thinking rock record, in an age where cult nostalgia trips and retrogressive throwbacks are all too common. Taking cues from Jimbob Isaac’s sludge metal legacy in Welsh underground heroes TAINT.

In addition to Simon Bonwick's bombastic drumming, the hard-hitting rockers have meanwhile expanded their line-up to include the virtuoso chops of lead guitarist Joe Harvatt, while bassist Tom Shortt holds the low end down with weighty grind and dexterity. HARK v2.0 is now officially in widescreen. They offer a holistic, collective approach to inventive song craft and beautifully precise pummelling.

HARK's acclaimed debut 'Crystalline' (2014) displayed a maturity hardly expected from a debut, with global critical acclaim dubbing it a ‘game changer’ in the sludge and stoner rock sphere. 'Machinations' was recorded with Andy Hawkins at The Nave (Leeds, UK) and Gethin Pearson at The Bassment of Sonic Architecture (Pontypool, UK). Mixing is handled this time by Pearson, Harvatt and Isaac, while James Plotkin (SUNN O))), ISIS, KHANATE) takes on mastering duties. With this dedicated, hands-on approach, 'Machinations' will allow HARK to further spread their wing into spheres unknown.

Jimbob Isaac's soaring and gritty lead vocals convey the existential angst of living in the media saturated and economically unstable climate from which 'Machinations' was born. His fragmented and deeply subconscious lyrical flow, talks of abstracted emotions, spiritual disintegration, toxic encounters, psychic endeavours, and technological overload. Isaac's complex prose is woven into a sonic tapestry created by he and his band mates that will make heavy rock listeners stand to attention.

Isaac also envelopes this record with his distinctive artwork, creating a pen and ink space-scape, an all-enveloping world of machinated beauty and a fine line near-future. Truly anchoring and expanding the HARK universe in all its pointillised, detailed splendour.

Having honed their live act on tours with the likes of CLUTCH, RED FANG, PRONG, KEN mode and A STORM OF LIGHT, HARK are a genuine force to be reckoned with. Following praised appearances at renowned festivals such as Roadburn, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Bloodstock, and Damnation, the Welsh heavy rockers have clearly succeeded in transforming their live energy into 'Machinations'. This newly incarnated quartet is ready to conquer the world!
