Art is resistance
I’ve always drawn; maybe first because I didn’t want to face a part of the reality around me. Thereafter, I’ve drawn to create and express my own reality, my personal vision of beings and things. And to confront the realities of everybody, to create a meeting, an echo… I’ve studied in an art school for 7 years learning drawing, painting, fine arts; then I entered a precision engineering school, which allowed me to understand the volume and material: metal. Later, I made an advertising design school, graphic design and computer graphics, and photography. Meanwhile, I learned sculpture.
My technique is mixed, plural, singular, without borders. I mix up my practical, technical and theoretical. Each new project is a pretext to try original things, to challenge my skills, to push my limits. My tools are many and varied. To create some images, I work with a digital camera Canon EOS 7D, and a film camera Mamiya RB67, an Epson Perfection scanner, PC and Photoshop software. I can make drawn sketches on paper. And I can work with any type of material and then incorporate it into a digital composition…
“Art is Resistance”. I draw my philosophy in this concept. The artistic expression of any kind is a form of resistance against ease, prejudice, apathy, mediocrity, fashions, unhealthy ambitions, general dismay, entropy, stupidity. Art is first of all an act of generosity.
Most of the time, I do not approach a command as command; I do not approach work as an “illustration” of a song or an album. I see my artistic participation as a personal perspective on the work of the musician or group. I can try to respond to a specific request, but very often it goes far beyond. I naturally use the symbolism like the collective unconscious more than pure metal imagery. This is also pleasant enough to break the rules, and get out of the traditional iconography to bring a slightly different vision. I find the most of my inspiration in the flesh; for me, it’s all there! Everything turns around that. It is truly one of the last territory of exploration, intimate and personal experimentation where things are happening. I feed off everything here and there in the music, arts, literature, film, science, subculture, fashion, nature, body, drunkenness, philosophy, ecstasy….
I would summarize my style and inspirations with this qualifier: romantic. This revolutionary movement of the late eighteenth and nineteenth century is characterized by a fierce desire to explore all the possibilities of life and the arts to finally express his feelings, revealing a passionate sensibility that seeks pleasure in mystery and fantasy, in the escape and delight, in the dream, the morbid and the sublime, the exotic, the past or the future.
I am currently working on several projects. A book of photographs mixing landscapes of a decommissioned hospital and carnal landscapes: “The Detached House of the Conspiracies” to the beginning of 2017.
A personal exhibition in duet with an artist that I particularly like the work, around the topic: “The construction of the Void”, Spring 2017.
A box of erotic photographs and music, with the band Neonrain “Solar Possibles” first half of 2017.
