We’re releasing our debut album “Before the Gates of Gomorrah” on Invictus Productions. It’s got 6 tracks and an intro straight up, no bullshit Death Metal. It’s all been fairly easy and relaxed really. Despite being our first release, we’ve all been around a long time in other bands and we knew one another quite a while before getting involved in this. Likewise with the recording studio (Trackmix) and engineer (Michael Richards) we used. We’d been there previously several times and Michael knows us and knows how we like to work and sound. We’ve a good working relationship with him and there were no problems or issues whatsoever. For the main part, it’s been a stress-free enjoyable undertaking.
The front cover is a painting called “Sodom & Gomorrah” by John Martin, circa 1852. All of the layouts were done by Annick Girout. Again, we’re really happy with what she’s done. We requested one or two things, but she knows what she’s doing and pretty much nailed it exactly as we would have liked. Musically, we’re drawing on three decades of influence. We’re old enough to have witnessed the progressive metal has taken from traditional Heavy Metal through Trash into Death Metal in all its’ various forms and so on. I think we’re just playing what appeals to us, what we’d like to listen to ourselves. It’s really that simple.
Everybody needs an outlet. It’s good for your head and your soul. I think if it’s in you to play and write material you’ll never stop completely. Certainly, playing Death Metal and being in the company of people who play or appreciate the same things is very important to us. I couldn’t spend my time sitting in front of a TV that’s for sure.
