Art and mystic matters
I was born in August 14th, 1985, in San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, a small town in the center of Chile. I was raised by my mother alone and lived my childhood with her and 2 brothers in an old house in the rural village of Larmahue, very isolated from civilization. I attended a catholic male school until 5th grade to later be educated at home. I always spent a lot of time on drawing and writing. My father is a more or less known artist but I never had any relation with him. I never attended any special art classes or education. I started working on an early age due to poor financial situation but I managed to raise a name as an artist in my home town getting numerous requests of all types, mainly painting letters and outsides of commercial shops. I used to be really into dubbing cassette tapes of the bands I liked and trying to draw their logos and covers by hand to make them look better. By 2002 I started to get involved in the metal scene by forming a band, for which my first metal logos and artwork were made. A couple of years later I started to receive requests from underground metal bands to do drawings for demo covers, logos and such. By 2006 or 2007 I started tattooing, also without apprenticeship or teachers.
I do most of my work by hand (without softwares), the tools I use the most are regular ballpoint, ink pens, graphite and color pencils when it comes to illustrating, and acrylics, watercolor and oils when it comes to painting, but in general I’m not particularly picky and I use whatever tools and media I have at the moment. I regularly use Adobe Photoshop to sometimes fix minor details or also to compose sketches, I have also used Sketchbook pro regarding this area, but like I said, most of the stuff I do I do it by hand. I have a small home studio where I do all my work these days.
I do as much research as I can about symbolism. Of course, everything that I read has a big impact on my artwork, especially Lovecraft and the circle of writers of the Cthulhu Mythos, the epic tales of Robert Howard, I also have a big interest in the occult, demonology, esoterism, magic, chaosophy and such mystic matters.
I try to be always perceptive, always searching for inspiration and ideas in everything that I see, mostly when I’m outside, traveling and when I’m reading or watching movies. To keep my ideas evolving I try hard to not repeat myself and take and always being open to try new techniques and ideas.
