The Lights of This Earth Are Blinding By Derrick Flanagin
Our new album ‘The Lights of This Earth’ I think as a whole we just took a little more time with the writing process. We also took some time off to try and mould these songs and find the new direction we wanted to go. Our focus is to just have fun. We obviously write about the struggles we go through in our everyday lives but I think if you’re not having fun it’s not worth it. At the end of the day, we’re a punk band. We have influences musically from everything and we write music to help us cope with the struggles we all have. It’s about as simple as that. The record definitely has a little different sound than our previous material. I think the songs just might be a little more mature? Rather than sticking to just one sound for the record, we took influences from all of our favourite bands making the songs a little more diverse. And as far as the next record goes I mean who knows! The artwork is pretty important. I feel like the art definitely sets the tone for the overall feel of the record. Our guitarist Phil Trona did our artwork and he did an amazing job.

For me, I grew up in a household where music was always present. I always remember my grandfather listening to country and my mom listening to shit like Primus and Nirvana. So after hearing Nirvana, I feel like that definitely pushed me to wanna play music. Besides having faith in yourself I believe in my friends and empathy. Spreading love and being able to relate and put yourself in someone’s situation will only bring you closer to them and kinda make life a little easier.
