HMAW: Thanks for your interest in Heavy Music Artwork… promoting Heavy Metal as art and culture.
Destinity: Thanks for having us! It’s always a pleasure to be able to present our work!
HMAW: Last November we have seen the light of your latest record “Resolve in Crimson”, was it a bumpy ride to get to this new milestone for the band?
Destinity: We started writing “Resolve In Crimson” even before our previous album was released. So we have been working on it for like almost 2 years. That helped us keep only the best material because we were looking for perfection. All in all we can say that everything went rather smoothly since we knew exactly what we wanted to play on this album.
HMAW: You started as primarily Black Metal band and moved to a Death Metal outfit, how did progression evolved?
Destinity: Very naturally actually. After some point we just we’re into Black metal anymore. We were starting to listen to a lot more death and thrash and so naturally we were influenced by this. But we still tried to keep certain elements from our past like the orchestrations and some black metal vocals.
HMAW: Your sound is indeed more refined and even the artwork has a much more professional take, would you agree?
Destinity: Definetely, I think this is our best artwork yet!! And concerning our sound I think it’s the same thing. We recorded at Jacob Hansen Studios in Denmark. It’s almost our second home there since this is our 4th album with Jacob. Every time we go there he manages to give us an even bigger sound! He’s a magician.
HMAW: You also released a video for the album “Black sun rising” what is the story behind the video?
Destinity: Yes the video was released a few weeks ago. The message behind it is that you always pay for what you’ve done. In the video the guy who pushes away the old lady gets caught at the end. That’s also the main theme of the lyrics in the album.
HMAW: “Resolve in Crimson” has a classic quality to it, very well crafted indeed. How did you achieve this level of proficiency?
Destinity: Thanks for the compliment. We have been working on it for 2 years non-stop. Our goal was to keep only the best riffs and ideas and we took our time to be as close to perfection as we could. Glad to hear that you feel the same way!!
HMAW: …and the cover art was handled by…?
Destinity: Strychneen Studios in Paris. The guy is really talented and understood from the start what we were going for. It was great working with him and the result is awesome I believe.
HMAW: France is fast becoming the place for ferocious Death and Metal Metal, are we likely to have a NWOFHM?
Destinity: Well, the French scene has greatly evolved these past years and we are glad to be part of it. Bands like Gojira helped to put French bands on the map and it certainly opened opportunities that weren’t there previously. We have many great bands that deserve international status and I hope this trend keeps on growing.
HMAW: Thanks for your time and your interest in Heavy Music Artwork.
Destinity: Thanks to HMAW for the interview and hope to see your readers on the road very soon during our European tour in March!!
