Evil Comes By Andreas Makela
This lineup has been together since 2014-2015. We have struggled a lot with members coming and going but this lineup feels like a homecoming! We have a wonderful creative spirit between us so everything runs easily compared to the old days. The new album ‘Evil Comes’ was recorded by ourselves (with some help with the drums). The songs are inspired by this evil world that we are living in. Like the Heavy midtempo song Golgotha, we are all responsible for all the shit with the environment and so on. We all have to “carry the cross” in the end, all of us. We can’t hide anywhere.
Or the faster straight forward video song ‘Dogs ov War’ is about soldiers who’ll do anything for some money! Maybe even kill their own neighbours, brother, mother whatever. The song on ‘Evil Comes’ is very varied. Fast, thrashy, melodic, Epic everything is in there. The listener should never get bored. Some song is older you know. Songs that didn’t fit on our first album ‘Prime Evil’. Like ‘Down to the lord’ and ‘When Evil Comes to Town’. The songs we wrote for this album was mostly written by me (Ante), Patrik and Martin. And the lyrics are varied me, Martin, Fredrik and Henrik.
The idea for the artwork came to me one day at a bookstore. I saw a book on sale with some strange evil-looking kids on the cover. It didn’t look like it does on the ‘Evil Comes’ album but I got the idea from that book. So I took a photo with my phone and kept it for a long time. And when we were recording bass or something I remembered that book and showed it to the band. And they all liked the idea so I mailed Andrej Bartulovic
Back to the cover. Our first album ‘Prime Evil’ has a burning evil angel on the cover, a kind angel turning into an evil angel. And on the new record ‘Evil Comes’, the dead, zombie, evil kids are curious about what’s behind that gate. And if you look close you see a hand there. That is ‘The Evil Angel’ from the ‘Prime Evil’ album trying to attract the kids over to the other side. So these two albums are connected. The lyrics on ‘Evil Comes’ touches topics like. Vikings invading England, mercenaries in war, drug addicts, Death etc. The topics are very varied.
Metal is, of course, more mainstream and accepted then it was in the beginning. I mean the crazy 80´s with the Dee Snider VS Tipper gore trial and the whole Parental Advisory thing was huge. This day´s it’s not like that. It doesn´t affect the same way today as in the past. But metal is still and will Always be huge and a little dangerous.
