Tropical Sun By Dome
We started to play death metal inspired by Lucio Fulci works since 2014. After a couple of demos, we released our first album titled ‘Opening The Hell Gates’ in 2015 and based on the movie ‘City of the Living Dead’. Since the beginning, we played using a drum sequencer synchronized with visuals and synths in order to create a theatrical experience. In 2019 we released our second album dedicated to the movie ‘Zombi 2’ and titled ‘Tropical Sun’. The album was supported by a USA tour and all the copies were sold out in three months only. The second print of the album will be promoted by Italian and European gigs until 2020.
We grew up watching Lucio Fulci’s movies and listening to ‘Tomb of the Mutilated’ so when we started the band we simply put together these two passions: Horror movies and death fucking metal!
Our latest release is titled ‘Tropical Sun’ and it is a concept album based on the cult movie ‘Zombi 2’. Why a title so happy for a death metal album? Well if you have ever watched the film you could understand why if you have never watched it you should do. The death metal style we play is for fans of the first wave of Tampa death metal, NY brutal slam, Mortician and some epic stuff like Bolt Thrower or Nile. In the new album, we play also synths inspired by horror movies soundtracks. Our favourite composers are Goblin and Fabio Frizzi.
We conceive death metal albums based on the Lucio Fulci’s filmography. So don’t expect romantic lyrics! The new album was inspired by the scenes and the plot of ‘Zombi 2 ‘ so the lyrics are about voodoo rituals, zombies vs sharks, splattered eyes and zombie plagues.
The artwork is important as much as the music is. it is the first thing you see when you look for some new music, that’s why it has to be eye-catching and it has to tell you as much as possible. ‘Tropical Sun’ cover artwork was made by Chris from Misanthropic-Art. We were following is work for years and we thought he was the best person to illustrate our ‘Zombie Flesh Eaters’ inspired album. We briefed Chris just telling him the album title and the movie name!
