Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed By Lasse Pyykkö
For me, the songwriting process was the most enjoyable part of the whole process – as always. The songs came out quite painlessly, and it was a rewarding experience. The recording is often a bit stressful and this time was no exception, but it went pretty well even if we had to hurry a bit to deliver the material in time for mixing. We were also glad for the opportunity to work with Jaime Gomez Arellano who did a great job on mixing and mastering the record. I have written all our music so far. I also wrote most of the lyrics for this album, but Teemu and Harri also contributed which is excellent.
Adam Burke painted the cover art, and we couldn’t be much happier with the result. I had this concept in my head about the ghostly blind dead figures in a cave-like scene with skulls and bones growing out of the walls. The artist took it from there, build on it, and delivered.
As a sole composer in Hooded Menace, my biggest influences are 80´s Candlemass, early Cathedral, old Paradise Lost and Autopsy. I could also name-drop acts such as early Anathema and My Dying Bride, old Katatonia, 80’s Metallica and Iron Maiden, Winter, Asphyx and so forth. Not so much modern influences as you can see – I’m old (laughs).
