Hostia by St. Anacletus
Polish groovy death/grind band. The group was established in 2017 in Warsaw. It engages musicians who have been active on the metal scene since the late 1990s. The band presents an openly anti-clerical and anti-religious image, further reinforced by the pseudonyms of the members, which were borrowed directly from the dead Popes: St Sixtus, St Anacletus, St Evaristus and St Xystus.
Our music can be described as short, brutal, grinding, with elements of death, hardcore & groove. It is about acting for Hostia and me after some months after the release I am still damn proud of it! I recorded 6 or 7 albums in my life and after some time passes I always had some issues with them. Hostia is the first that I am still fully happy with what we have created as well as production and sound! Writing process went really smooth and natural. It was really fun – if you can use that word with such brutal music. 13 short, tight punches right in your face!
I always loved speed and brutality in music! I love Death, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, old Sepultura, Vader and many more but then I figured out that making songs shorted and simply make them even more intense! Hostia is based on grindcore but at the same time, it has many other elements taken once from hardcore, death metal or even rock and roll. You know – grind and death metal are pretty well defined and explored already. We don’t want to invent the wheel again, but I think we have our own way of mixing those elements in an interesting way!
