I have synesthesia
I do not have any academic training, all my knowledge has always been through research, observation and reading. During my last eight years of work I always sought to perfect and always to improve. Back when I started I played in a band, and it was hard to find good artists. So I started practicing in Photoshop and doing artwork. Eventually other bands and friends liked what I was doing so I started working in this area and since then it has been my passion.
I like to receive ideas from bands, it helps a lot with the research and to start with the creative process. I always instruct customers on how best fit ideas. The results are always mixed with the band concepts and with ideas of my own. The result in my opinion are better achieved with this direction.
I always like to have best work practice and to create something unique. Be humble, respect my clients and to have my work appreciated, the rest comes with time. Many artists today only seek fame and end up forgetting the feeling what art can give you, sad to look at a picture and see nothing. I really try and stress for everyone to see this within my work.
I have synesthesia, and that’s something that only those who are are aware can really understand. Listening to music and seeing art is something extraordinary. I can feel every chord with the colors, each note with smell and sometimes even taste. It seems an illusion but if you read about synesthesia will see how amazing it is. If you listen to music and view art together is really an unique experience. In my creative process I never listen to anything, only when I’m finished I turn the music to be able to enjoy the result.
I’m not connected to religion or any culture that can change the result of my work. But I really love the whole mythology, ancient cultures, etc. Always influencing humanity in the creation process, this is what we are, our past, and in metal is no different. I never use any symbolism or something in my work, unless a client asks me. My inspirations are in games and movies, my favourite artists are HR Giger, Dennis Sibeijn, Tim Burton and many others. My work is nothing like theirs but whenever I need inspiration I know where to look.
