Time Lurker By Mick Moreau
Born in 2014, Time Lurker is an atmospheric Black Metal one-man band from Strasbourg, France. This project, led by Mick, is influenced by Altar Of Plagues, Weakling, Yellow Eyes, Krallice or Leviathan. Time Lurker concept is based on a long and introspective journey facing the Human nature, leading us to confront our demons shaped by our doubts and fears. This journey is at a crossroad between Jules Verne and HP Lovecraft.
It is indeed quite complex because I had to put as much energy and time in my project as in my job I do for a living It took lot of time to have a satisfied project: almost 3 years. On the other hand, it allowed me to find myself, artistically speaking, my beliefs, my tenacity, and my will to lead a project till the end. I always found myself enjoying playing solo in the studio.
Generally speaking, I focus on a memory, a feeling, a colour, and I just let go until the image takes form. There is then the “geek” aspect of the technique that is the sound design and mixes to sharpen it all.
My little brother, Jo Mot Rot, did the cover: he is also a tattoo artist. It all came quite easily and naturally; it was a real pleasure. We remotely worked on this project, but it did not affect the process, I just sent him the tracks and spoke about the idea of a floating portal, that’s it. Because we grew up together with the same influences, he understood everything I wanted.
My main inspirations are the band that marked me the most; it goes from the black metal in general (American Atmospheric Black Metal to be precise) to bands such as Type O Negative, Cocteau Twins. I also take inspiration from my childhood memories and dreams, but also in the sleep paralysis I suffer from.
I am agnostic: as an artist, I prefer not speaking about my beliefs, I let the door open for the listener to interpret the music.
